OUR CITY

Who is hidden behind the "74th EDSA General Meeting" ?

OUR CITY

Strasbourg is the main city of the region Alsace, which is located in the East of France. It’s located near the German border. Indeed, it has been successively French, then German, then French etc because of the different wars. That’s why, while you’ll be walking down its streets, you’ll feel for sure the blending between French and German influences, whether it is for architecture or food as well.

Its exceptional historical heritage made it listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site twice : in 1988 and 2017. The region is well known for its wines (Riesling, Pinot, Gewurztraminer, Sylvaner, Muscat…), bretzels, “tartes flambées” (an alsatian dish made of dough, cream, onions, bacon), baeckeoffe, kougelhopf, choucroute, spätzle and many more that we invite you to try during your stay !

It is the formal seat of the European Parliament too. It is best known for its Christmas market which attracts a lot of people each year : around 2,8 million in 2022!

There’s a lot to see around in the city :

  • The Cathedral of course (widely considered to be among the finest examples of Rayonnant Gothic architecture) with its astronomical clock

  • Its different quarters (Petite France, Krutenau, Neustadt, Grande Île..)

  • Museums, gardens…

  • … and why not Germany ? One of our tramways can drive you there ! (line D, direction Port du Rhin/Kehl Rathaus)

You won’t get bored for sure !
